Welcome to Froggy's Say.....

OLD TOTTONIANS 1st XV 18 v OLD STREETONIANS 1st XV 14

 @ Churchfields 24/09/05.

This league encounter was settled in  the second half with the boot of fly half Gary Akers who kept Tott's in the game. A

After the heroics of last week, this should of been an easy game for us but Tott's made hard work of it.

Tott's took the lead shortly after the whistle with a penalty from new boy B.J. from wide out on the left, the way he placed the ball on the tee looked as if he was going to kick it into space!! the ball slotted between the posts - 3 points.

Ten minutes later, Old Streetonians took the lead through a disputed try which the Old Tott's forwards were not very happy with. 7-3 down, and with half time approaching, Old Streetonians gave away another penalty which B.J again slotted over with ease.

Half time came and 7-6 down. Time for some subs and on came Gary Akers and Peter Eeles. Tott's knew they needed a try but just couldn't get over the line.

A darting run by Eeles broke the game line and he had only the full back to beat - Eeles was tackled 10m from the line but there was no support, luckily an infringement by Old Streetonians allowed Old Tott's a penalty. This time it was Gary Akers, he put Tott's back into the lead.

Old Tott's relaxed and let the opposition in again. This time they scored under the posts an easy converted try - Score 14-9. Tott's started to panic, they were trying to run the ball from all over the park and just getting themselves into more trouble. A space and Richard Clack spun a pass to waiting Akers who cheekily dropped goal from 22m Akers put Old Tott's back into the game. Old Streetonians continued to give away penalties, it was only a matter of time before Akers got another shot at goal and another 3 points.

Tott's  were back into the lead once again, this time, they kept that lead. Once again, ill-discipline cost Old Streetonians the game for another penalty and Akers put the game out the reach of the visitors. Tott's won the game 18-14. Next week Tott's are away to Royston which judging by league positions should be another close game.

  OLD TOTTONIANS 2nd XV 5 v UPPER CLAPTON 2nd XV 26.

GREENE KING 2nd XV Merit Table.

It was all ways an up hill struggle for Tott's Two's, by giving away no-less than four penalty's in the first half.
Each one was for the Tott's back-row to eager for the ball!! Most of the game was played around the middle of the pitch. Both sets of Forwards slugging it out. With the home side's having a "BIGGER" pack ,Tott's "Mobile Unit" held their own. Just before the end of the half Tott's were unluckily in not crossing the line when Emmanuel "Baba" Sonubi, broke two tackles, but was engulfed by the Back-Row, before he could release the pass to a four on one Tott over lap! At this break down the Ref blew for Half-time.
In the second half a few change's saw John Monogamy take nearly every line-out, Mickey Sheppard( Tott's Man-of-Match) breaking up all the home side's plans in attack, and the over eager Tott's back-Row never gave another penalty away!! From a Scrum just mid way, No8 "Monty" slung a pass. Which missed the Scrum-Half &Fly-Half. Bounced and landed in Centre Simon Reed's arms!! (NO way was this planned). Simon made the break took the tackle. And released Mark Goodrich who still had to "Bob & weave" from outside the 22. He made the corner, but Norm Neal missed the conversion
Just as Tott's fought back they lost Prop Billy Hughes then Mick Shepherd for 5 minutes Blood Injury). While Tott's were reshaping the home side took clear advantage of the situation and ran in two tame try's. Both converted.
The final move of the game saw the bandaged head of Shepherd just un-able to connect with, this time a perfect pop pass from "Monty" after he had side stepped the back line and scuttled the Fly-half.
