Welcome to Froggy's Say..... OLD TOTTONIANS 1st XV 22 v Royston 1st XV 8 @ Royston 01/10/05.
Tott's travelled to Royston on Saturday on the back of a good win over Old Streetonians full of confidence and looking for another 2 points. Despite losing 2 key players to injury, Tott's took a strong side away with them. Tott's started off the stronger side and were 9 0-up within 20 minutes with 3 penalties successfully kicked from Gary Akers. Then came the first try of the game from stand in No. 8, Paul Savage. The try came from a 5m line out won by skipper mark Hutching's. Tott's forwards got a full powerful drive on rolling the maul. Savage then broke from the back of the maul to crash over putting the Old Tott's 14-0 up at half time. Positive talk during the break led to a good team talk and Tott's were perhaps a little too confident!! The second half should of been the same as the first but the Old Tott's came out a little bit slow and Royston came at them for the first time in the contest. Royston went over through some sloppy handling allowing a kick through to be pounced on by the Royston scrum half. The conversion was missed to make to score 14-5. A little shaken Tott's and began to show the same spirit they had in the first half. Tott's gave away a silly penalty for off-side which their fly-half kicked. Score 14-8. Tott's knew they now had a game on their hands. Old Tott's second try came from a turn over which Hutching's flicked out to Simon Reed who out run the home defence with blistering pace from 30 meters out to touch down. The last 20 minutes Tott's were fought under pressure in there own 22 but held their composure and discipline until the final whistle. This week Tott's travel to newly promoted Hendon which should be a very physical game. OLD TOTTONIANS 2nd Xv 7 v HARINGEY 2nd XV 50
The Poor Old Two's!! Hit by a Haringey second half "Ginger" blitz!! After the First Team had stripped "Biffs" team of their youth and pace in, Simon Reed, brains and leadership of John Montgomery and snipping runs of Mark Goodrich. Because they had injury's from the mid-week training session and shopping trips!!!!(I didn't know shops were open on a Saturday! Sunday to Friday Yes. But Saturday???During the season. NO) We knew this was a hard running game, as this is the same team our 1st Xv usually play!!! But you would not believe it, Gary Stephens took a strike against the head, the ball was whipped out by Alan Hendle (Who left the kitchen and bar to make the numbers up!!) Coming onto the ball at pace was Emmanuel "BABA" Sonubi who took over three defenders to score right at the start. Norm Neal converted 7-0 up. The Rhino's came back with two silly try's Tott's lost "Baba", who did return but with his knee bandaged up like a Mummy, was no longer a threat. At this time we lost Craig our new recruit 2nd row with a deep gashed chin ,After being bandaged up by coach Ross Nelson he returned with a Turban on!! It got to a point now as Steve "Lefty" Wright only watching went into hiding, as Alan had to come off to cook dinner!! And a player was wanted. Thank God for Bazza and Apples!! After all the reshaping Haringey attacked down the blind side. Only thing stopping them was Tott's Man-of-the-Match. Tony Street who made the tackle and snuffed out the attack just as the Ref Mr Dean "Bonus Ball" Adde blew for half-time. The second half went to bits as the "Ginger" full-back ran in five try's in a ten-minute spell, To make it worse he dropped a goal at the end. To bring up the big 50. Next weeks home league game v Wanstead should see us back with our full commitment of players????
Next Sat 1st XV (A) v
